IN IT TO END IT!

For a long time I've thought about doing a long-distance walk to benefit the breast cancer cause, and this is the year when I finally say "no more excuses!" Breast cancer has become too widespread and I can no longer continue to sit back without taking action! I hope you'll join and support me in the fight.

On May 1 & 2, I'll walk as one with a community of thousands in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Washington DC. I chose this event because I'm so impressed that the Avon Foundation for Women addresses the whole picture: medical research into the possible causes, prevention, treatment and cure of breast cancer; clinical care for breast cancer patients; support services for patients and their families; educational seminars; and early detection programs. To learn more, please visit avonfoundation.org.

It's easy for you to join me—no walking involved! Your tax-deductible donation will not only help me reach (and hopefully exceed!) my $1800 fundraising goal, it will also move us closer to the end of breast cancer. To make a donation, just visit my fundraising page at http://www.avonwalk.org/goto/sarahdbutcher

If you prefer to write a check, please make it payable to "Avon Walk for Breast Cancer" and send to me at: 8557 Wyngate Manor Ct, Alexandria, VA 22309.

Thank you for supporting my commitment.

Happy Walking!

Sarah Butcher

I am taking part in Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and will be walking 39 miles over two
days. As a walker, I'm required to raise a minimum of $1,800 to participate, but I plan
to raise much more! To support my efforts please visit the website below to donate.

Thank you very much for your support! DONATE

Hello...Hello...Hello...

Hello Hoss Family! Anyone out there? This thing hasn't been updated for MONTHS! Lets get on with it! Where are all the baby pictures? There are 2 new ones in the family! :)

Anyways.... the wedding planning is coming alone. We're under 80 days till the wedding and under 38 days until Donald comes back.

What else is new.....I completed a Half Ironman 2 weeks ago. I have 2 Olympic Distance races this month and another Half Oct 4 in NJ. With the Full Ironman Nov 7. When the reason is so I will have raced 14 races this year....WOW....maybe I will make this my career.....how nice would it be to be PAID to train and workout and race!

An Ironman Race is explained like this: An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) consisting of a 2.4 miles (3.86 km) swim, a 112 miles (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26 miles 385 yards, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. A half Ironman is half of all the above distance in order without a break.

That is what I have been doing to keep myself busy why my husband is off taking care of the insurgent problem in Afghanistan.

OK who is next for updates?!?!

Job info!

OK ... Where do I start..... I AM STOKED!!!

I interviews at a college in Arlington yesterday. I showed up 30 minutes early for a 2pm interview. So at 2pm they brought me into an empty class room and had me wait another 5-10 minutes. When they came in they told we we would talk for a  few minutes then they were going to bring me into a class down the hall to demo the program. Before I could stop myself I said "In FRONT of people??!!" ...........oops.....can we say nervous???

In the interview I found out that BOTH of the interviewers went to the same school I did AND the lady has the SAME degree as I do... (SWEET!)...so she asked me about my background and after I told her I was a photographer for 8 years. She interrupted me and said they are starting a photo class in Oct and that would be a good fit for me.

I asked good questions and I was ready with my class material (since I didn't know if I was going to be demoing on a computer or not I brought copies of the material I was going to go over.) She brought me into the classroom of about 8 students, 1 instructor, the 2 people who were interviewing me and 2 MORE instructors. I was a sweaty mess! I was so nervous! So when it was time to start it was ON. I went into teacher mode. I projected my voice. I was precise. The demo went great. Then I was done (5 minutes later).

So everyone started to ask questions.... NOW lets keep in mind the school FOUND ME. I did not apply for this job. And even after I responded with my current resume they STILL asked me to come in for an interview. Web design is NOT my #1 discipline. It's not even in my top 5! So....when they were asking me questions they asked me EVERYTHING! How do I insert an image? How do I make a banner? How do I make a new page? So lets keep in mind this WHOLE time I was going off memory! I haven't used this program in YEARS! But I did good. Even when the computer malfunctioned and didn't produce a rollover button like I told it too, I was calm and worked thru it!

After the 45 minute demo she gave me some great feedback. I went too fast. I need to slow down and make sure, that with the students doing the same thing with me, are following. The program I was using (Dreamweaver CS4) is new...and was just released. So like any program there are always little changes. So she chalked up my confusion to that. (lol)....but she said this,

"We have an other interviewee coming in this afternoon. If that falls through we would like you to teach this course. You will need to brush up on your Dreamweaver and we will bring someone in to teach the coding part of the class. BUT....regardless of this class I think you would an excellent fit for your photography class that starts in October. Here is the application. If you can fill it out and bring it back to me this week that would be great!"

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So... that is where I am at!! We didn't talk days or money or anything. I am just MEGA excited that they are going to give me the opportunity to teach!!!
