Hello Family,

WOW lots of new news in the past few weeks from everyone. Apryl are having a girl. Jordan is driving. Ryan is ..... where?? (just kidding....)

Don and I have a trip to Peru scheduled for Feb....let me tell you what happened...

So I booked the tour for Peru. Then got plane tickets. I found a great price for tickets, booked them and we were home sweet  home...PERU HERE WE COME....until I was letting the tour company know the flight info and I realized (2 weeks later) that I booked the flights for MARCH not FEB....same 'number' dates in Feb as March...it was really only a mouse click mistake...

So I called Expedia and Continental and all in all it was going to cost us $200 EACH PERSON to change our tickets...not to mention the cost difference.  So last weekend when I was looking at the change costs trying to find other tickets we came to the conclusion that it is going to be a total of $750 mistake... So we contacted the tour company to change the trip to March and it was only going to cost us $50 to change (admin fee). So last night we went to call Expedia one more time to see about changing our tickets to Feb and it is now $2300 to change them....so we are now going to Peru in March....13-22.

Problem....March is when we are having Apryl's Baby shower. But......No Worries..  :) we already talked and we are going to have it Feb 28th weekend. AND Don is going to be able to come home with me!

grandpa

I speak for myself, although I would think many people would agree, we have been tested this past year. How much can one person...one FAMILY take?

When I look back on the past year I can only think how close we have all become. What makes me smile and helps me sleep is knowing that he is "up there" playing nickle nickle and pinching women (he doesn't need his cane up there).

I can't help but be disappointed that he was unable to see us all growing up and 2 new great grandchildren this year. Making his goofy faces and funny noises.

Although he's not here physically...he's still here spiritually. Everywhere.

Miss you and love you Grandpa.

A&J

1 Year

I really can't believe that it has been a year since we lost Dad/Grandpa. That was the fastest year in history. If I knew what lied ahead of us in the coming year, I probably would have throw in the towel right then! I can only think this past 365 days has made us all stronger somehow. That's how Kenny would want it - with us coming out stronger, not weaker.

If you haven't heard, I'm joining the elite Ryan Club. I've been laid off starting March 31st. The good news is that I have one year's severance pay. So now I have to figure out what I want to do when I grow up!

I told the girls the other night that I'm revising the "2008 was a horrible year" theory. I now believe that the horrible year actually started Jan. 26, 2008 and ends today - one year later! So if my theory is correct, no more bad news is coming our way!

I hope everyone is well.

well in the little white car with the student driver sign on top! :]
but omg today was the first day and im with a girl who has no clue what shes doing, going the wrong way, slammin on the breaks, almost running over trash bins, etc. SEND ME A PRAYER!!!
i have to go on the highway with that . lol I was shaking by the time it was over, and i am NOT exaggerating!!

we're back!!!!!!!

so, over the last week and a half we have been battling a virus. in our computer. it shut everything down and i couldn't even log ON to the computer. but after much bitching and a couple f-bombs James got it working again.

SO needless to say Jeff and I actually had to communicate and love each other! I'm kidding. Although he was lost with out his fantasy hockey and me with out my facebook and email. BUT, we watched a lot of TV and read a lot of books!

SO, the news with us! Jeff and I went to another ultrasound on Monday because they didn't get a good enough pic of the baby's heart so she was also able to check again to make sure it was still a girl. and it is! :) i'm getting my "pot belly" and am told I need to take a pic but we'll see! Jeff has been out of work since last Wednesday. They didn't lay him off but they are going to give him unemployment for his time he isn't able to work. so he will be going back in the next week or so. Now it's time to plan baby showers and register!

Still no names picked out. I am pretty sure we're going to leave it a mystery until the baby is born. we've gotten many opinions from friends family and customers at work. so now everyone gets to wait in the wings.

that's about it with us. when i can get some new pics on here i will!!

Snow Day!

Three or four inches of snow shut us down. The schools were closed, everyone was panic buying bread, milk and gas - crazy!

I got up early and "shoveled" this morning - I think I scared some neighbors with that frightful "shovel on concrete" sound!

I went to work for a couple of hours and then came home to finish the day because the roads were supposed to get worse. They actually got better!
For the veteran Minnesotans, when you see these pictures, you'll laugh!

Yesterday was the first 'bad' day at work in my first 5 weeks. From dropping calls to scheduling meetings the boss didn't want (but how was I supposed to know this)... When I got home Butch had declared yesterday "SH Appreciation Day".... (SH=me). When he got home from work I had sent him a text telling him it was a bad day. So he immediately went into action and headed to the store. He got me roses, sushi, cottage cheese and the best boneless rib eyes a girl could ask for. He poured me my favorite wine and gave me my book and told me to relax while he got dinner together. (Don't let me forget to tell you that he called all the closest people to me and told them I was having a bad day and to drop me a line or text)… I got a call from my dad, his parents and I had called Apryl but I could tell she was on her "best behavior" so she must have gotten a call him Butch too. (LOL Apryl  After dinner we fell asleep reading an Ironman story. Needless to say my day went from bad to AWESOME…I sure am a lucky girl.

This weekend

Hi Guys!

Well this past weekend was a hoot. We had a Murder Mystery party and had an AWESOME TIME!! (Photos coming soon). Sunday we went to the Motorcycle show in DC. Lots of bikes.

I found out on Friday that my school adviser advised me to sign up for the wrong class. So I had to drop the current class and either start in a class what I would be a week behind in or wait until Feb to start over...I opted for the latter and will be starting back up again in Aug not Feb since the GI Bill will then cover my school.  So I am school free for a while... (sad). Just gives me more time to train for the Ironman!

Hi Family...I really don't have much to say ... I wish I did. but I noticed that not too many people blog much anymore. So I thought I would put some ramblings up here just because.

Well not too much new on the East Coast. I don't have to work on Inauguration day due to all the people in the city! So its a 4 day weekend for us. That being said we have the weekend FILLED...we are starting out with an adventure race in Southern VA... similar to the TV show Amazing Race, but we will be Mt Biking, Trekking and Boating over 35 miles in 6 hours. It has a little orienteering work along with required equipment you have to carry.  That is Saturday. Sunday and/or Monday we are looking at skiing! Don got me some new skis for Christmas so I HAVE TO TRY THEM OUT!! That leaves Monday and/or Tuesday for some sort of fun activity... so Mt Biking or camping with the dogs will probably be in the works some where...

Along with all these sporting events Don and I are in school working on our Masters degrees; his first, my second. So we are busy busy busy!

I will be in MN around the middle of March for Apryl and Jeff's baby shower!! It will be a GREAT TIME!!!

hello everyone!

Well after much stressing, the doctor appt went ok. i was hoping she would tell me i need to quit working all together cause it causes too much stress...but obviously that didn't happen. boo.

jeff and i are watching the baby kick everyday and we're starting to work on the nursery. i need ideas and cute stores to check out that have some unique bedding or something cause i don't want a theme. i don't want lady bugs or pooh cause that's all i will get for her nursery. not that i don't like those themes but i'm not a themed person.

tomorrow I am 24 weeks and the baby is the size of an ear of corn. which makes me think i am going to give birth to pop corn.

today a 13 year old girl and her mom (who's a regular guest of mine) came in to get their hair cut and the girl was carrying a doll. apparently she had to have this fake baby for the day. it petrified me. it wouldn't stop crying. a flipping DOLL. it had sensors in the diapers to tell if you have changed it. sensors in the bottle to tell if you have fed it. sensors in it's back to tell if you burped it....sensors all over that could tell if you abused it!! I almost had an anxiety attack! all of this stemming from a damn doll.

ok...i had to rant. i have had a long day and need to try to get a full night of sleep with out my own baby kicking me in the tummy all night. :)

Beach 2 Battleship FULL IRON MAN!

OK Guys...I am officially lost my mind. I registered for the Beach to Battleship FULL Ironman Distance Triathlon. It will be on

Nov 7, 2009. This is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile marathon run. Each event is back to back on one day, and in that order. Don is registered too...its in NC if any NC Hostetler's would be interested in Jock Strapping (Atheltic Supporters) that weekend.....

New Years Day 10K

Hey guys!

Yesterday Don and I ran a 10K (6.28 miles) in Leesburg, VA in preparation for our Adventure Race, Jan 17. We ran the whole race together because the adventure race requires you to stay within 100 feet of your teammate(s) at all times! Attached is a photo we took when we got back to the house. It was a great way to start 2009!

Happy New Year!
Sarah.
