I started school obviously ha and its going well. got an A on my first math test and a B on my first college paper! I started my new job at Rainbow Station and it's going really well.. although it gets tiring really fast because the kids are so energetic! ha but everyone is very nice and i love it there!

Hello...Hello...Hello...

Hello Hoss Family! Anyone out there? This thing hasn't been updated for MONTHS! Lets get on with it! Where are all the baby pictures? There are 2 new ones in the family! :)

Anyways.... the wedding planning is coming alone. We're under 80 days till the wedding and under 38 days until Donald comes back.

What else is new.....I completed a Half Ironman 2 weeks ago. I have 2 Olympic Distance races this month and another Half Oct 4 in NJ. With the Full Ironman Nov 7. When the reason is so I will have raced 14 races this year....WOW....maybe I will make this my career.....how nice would it be to be PAID to train and workout and race!

An Ironman Race is explained like this: An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) consisting of a 2.4 miles (3.86 km) swim, a 112 miles (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26 miles 385 yards, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. A half Ironman is half of all the above distance in order without a break.

That is what I have been doing to keep myself busy why my husband is off taking care of the insurgent problem in Afghanistan.

OK who is next for updates?!?!

Job info!

OK ... Where do I start..... I AM STOKED!!!

I interviews at a college in Arlington yesterday. I showed up 30 minutes early for a 2pm interview. So at 2pm they brought me into an empty class room and had me wait another 5-10 minutes. When they came in they told we we would talk for a  few minutes then they were going to bring me into a class down the hall to demo the program. Before I could stop myself I said "In FRONT of people??!!" ...........oops.....can we say nervous???

In the interview I found out that BOTH of the interviewers went to the same school I did AND the lady has the SAME degree as I do... (SWEET!)...so she asked me about my background and after I told her I was a photographer for 8 years. She interrupted me and said they are starting a photo class in Oct and that would be a good fit for me.

I asked good questions and I was ready with my class material (since I didn't know if I was going to be demoing on a computer or not I brought copies of the material I was going to go over.) She brought me into the classroom of about 8 students, 1 instructor, the 2 people who were interviewing me and 2 MORE instructors. I was a sweaty mess! I was so nervous! So when it was time to start it was ON. I went into teacher mode. I projected my voice. I was precise. The demo went great. Then I was done (5 minutes later).

So everyone started to ask questions.... NOW lets keep in mind the school FOUND ME. I did not apply for this job. And even after I responded with my current resume they STILL asked me to come in for an interview. Web design is NOT my #1 discipline. It's not even in my top 5! So....when they were asking me questions they asked me EVERYTHING! How do I insert an image? How do I make a banner? How do I make a new page? So lets keep in mind this WHOLE time I was going off memory! I haven't used this program in YEARS! But I did good. Even when the computer malfunctioned and didn't produce a rollover button like I told it too, I was calm and worked thru it!

After the 45 minute demo she gave me some great feedback. I went too fast. I need to slow down and make sure, that with the students doing the same thing with me, are following. The program I was using (Dreamweaver CS4) is new...and was just released. So like any program there are always little changes. So she chalked up my confusion to that. (lol)....but she said this,

"We have an other interviewee coming in this afternoon. If that falls through we would like you to teach this course. You will need to brush up on your Dreamweaver and we will bring someone in to teach the coding part of the class. BUT....regardless of this class I think you would an excellent fit for your photography class that starts in October. Here is the application. If you can fill it out and bring it back to me this week that would be great!"

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So... that is where I am at!! We didn't talk days or money or anything. I am just MEGA excited that they are going to give me the opportunity to teach!!!

Memorial Day Weekend~

What a busy busy weekend! Avery is proving to be a traveling baby...

Dad and sue babysat on Saturday for a while so jeff and i could work on the yard and cars! We stayed there later for dinner and took her home to sleep for a while.

Sunday we drove to the Riebe's to pick up a birthday gift for a 1 year old birthday party, went to the birthday party where we met another little girl named Avery, then off to Joan's 70th birthday party so Anita and the rest of the partiers could meet Avery!

She then spent the evening with Grandma Delayne so Jeff and I could attend a bonfire at a friends so i could have a drink for a change!

As of right now she is SNOOZING!! I am assuming she is done with the traveling and everyone holding her, lol. So we're just hangin at home letting her get back into the groove of at home life!

Hope everyone had a good weekend and enjoyed the AMAZING weather we've been having!!

Love, Apryl

Updates from the Carolinas

I thought I'd update folks on what's been happening n NC lately. Please note that these are the opinions of the author and do not necessarily represent the entire NC Hostetler family!

Brooke is ready to go - even though she has 1 1/2 months left! She's having trouble sleeping at night and I think she's ready to be done with this phase. She finished her Community College class last week and now just has to get through the last 4 weeks of high school. Then it's diploma time! She's also coming down with a case of Senioritis as well.

Jordan's high school softball team won their Conference Championship last night against an 8 year State Champion. It was a huge victory and the Seniors really loved it since they've never had a winning team. The downside is that Jordan's catching thumb was injured pretty bad in the 6th inning and the had to pull her. She's seeing a specialist tomorrow. Next week the state tournament starts. Here is the link to the newspaper article and pix. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/story/719217.html

Anita's plugging away on her Paralegal Associates Degree and hopes to be done in a year or so. She's been sinking a ton of time into helping with fundraising for the travel softball team (which she loves - - not). Oh yea, she continues to spoil the dog - Jack!

I am one week into my new career as a Financial Advisor. I've teamed up with one of our Senior Advisors and he is showong me the side of the business I haven't learned in 19 years. So far it's been a great experience and I'm learning a ton.

Travel News: We are coming home in August for aboout 10 days!! Unfortunatly Brooke & the baby won't be making it back with us.

Finally, if you forgot, it's NASCAR month in Charlotte! Two weekends of racing and celebrations (Now I just have to schmooze my way into something)! Also remember, the NASCAR Hall of Fame opens Spring, 2010 in Charlotte :)

Hope everyone is well,
-dave

Big Day for Avery!

Avery Mae Riebe

Well, we did it! We officially are parents, and loving EVERY minute of it! Sunday night Jeff and I had dinner after dad and sue stopped by to say hello, labor pains started immediately after dinner. Although I was not aware of what contractions felt like, I found out a couple of hours later that they sucked!! We called the hospital at 10 and they said to wait an hour and if they continue, to just come in. I couldn't take it any longer and we left at 10:45. We got to the hospital and Jeff wheeled me upstairs (knocking me into walls cause he didn't know how to drive the chair!) and we got to the 4th floor and they were ready for me. I was introduced to Judy (who would later be described as a SAINT) and they whisked me to a room and had me get dressed.

Now, people LOVE to share their stories, as I have learned these past 9/10 months. One that I LOVED was you will forget all the pain after you see your baby! SO NOT TRUE! Trust me, I had an awesome experience, but SHIT! Those contractions about made me pass out! So when the doctor came in and asked if I would be having an epidural, Jeff answered for me saying "Oh...she'll TAKE the epidural!" LOL! When the anesthesiologist came in he asked if I had questions and I just told him I didn't want to see the needle! Nothing hurt. I felt a pinch where the Novocain went in but the actual epidural?! Nothing!! It was a lifesaver! I practically kissed the doctor when he was finished cause I was FLYING HIGH! I managed to get some sleep, until I was woken up with some more pains. They gave me more drugs in my epidural and I was fine. I was also given Pitosin and with in an hour I was ready to start pushing!

The actual physical labor part was a breeze! (That is for you brooke! Trust me, it's not bad at all, at least not for me!) When I started pushing Judy, the saint, said "OK, grab the back of your legs take a deep breath, let it out, then take another one and PUSH for ten seconds...let that breath out take another one and push! We will do that 3 times in a row!" I couldn't feel ANYTHING! So at one point I made the pushing face that you see on TV, opened an eye, looked at Judy and asked her if anything was happening. She just laughed and said yes! I fell asleep at one point, to be woken up and told to push again, being I couldn't feel my contractions. I pushed for an hour and a half and Avery Mae was welcomed into the world at 6:32am. Weighing in at 9lbs 7oz!! I almost died from shock at her weight!

The first day was awesome cause I was numb and feelin good! The 2nd day was stressful, and full of visitors. And today was great cause we got a visit from Gary in the morning, mom showed up to help us pack and we were out around 1:30! We got home today set Avery, who was still in her carseat, in the living room and let the cats get to know her. They look at her like she's an alien and ignore her.

So far Jeff and I have been hanging out watching TV and falling absolutely in love with this tiny little girl who takes my breath away. I never thought there was such a feeling of love for someone other than your significant other. But MOVE OVER JEFF! Someone took over! LOL! I'm kidding :).....sorta.

Well, I just wanted to thank everyone for the texts, the visits, the flowers, the love, everything!

We can't wait for you all to meet Avery and she can't wait to meet all of you!

Love always,

Jeff, Apryl and Avery!

It's the final COUNTDOWN!

Oh....my....god! I am going to be a mom in like 48 hours or something! Jeff is cool as a cucumber and I am FREAKING OUT! I just can't believe the time is almost here!

Jeff and I are scheduled to be at the hospital on Monday at 6am, then we're going to start the induction process with Pitosin. We won't have anyone come to the hospital too early, just cause there is nothing to see, and i don't need people pacing and making me nervous. SO. Jeff and I are going to hang for a little bit and then call people when it is almost time!

So next time I blog I should have some pictures of new baby girl Riebe. Still no name for sure but we will know when we see her!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Love,
Apryl & Jeff

Hi family!

Just a little update on the Butchers. Don is at the last stop before he get to his destination. He hasn't slept in a bed since Sunday night.

I have started my Ironman Training. Its going to be a rough and tough 6 months missing him and getting all this training in! I had an hour swim last night and an our bike ride tonight.

Sounds like Apryl is almost done baking that baby of hers....if Baby X doesn't pop out soon she will over burn in the oven!! I am planning to come home sometime in May to see her.

That's all the news I have from the DC area.

Love,
Sarah B.

another dr. appt.

well another dr. appt down and nothing much happening. things are moving along slowly. BUT, the good news is, if i haven't had the baby by 4/26 then they will induce me 4/27 at 6am! Which is actually what i am hoping for cause my doctor will be in the hospital that day, and she wanted to plan for that day so she could be there. that makes me feel better! right now the baby is about 7 lbs.

i am getting excited, but also want to throw up cause i am so scared.

what makes me laugh though...she was talking to me about pushing. wasn't something that i wanted to talk about but she said "push like you POOP!" i busted out laughing and said well i am a hostetler! i learn from the best!

well hope everyone is doing well. i would like to see more posts on here and would also like to inform everyone that jeff and i have entered in a NHL playoff bracket that ryan has put together. i am excited to school a bunch of boys and watch them all cry. makes me feel better :))

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

So...let's say a little prayer or something to help WILL this baby out!

Cabin where the wedding will be!

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to send you a photo of the cabin we are having the wedding ceremony at on Saturday!

I found a Rev. who will meet us there. If it is raining we will have the ceremony on the porch, if it isn't raining we will hike to an overlook that is on the property.

We will have photos taken via a tripod and the Rev. and we are also looking at setting up a video camera......so you can all see the ceremony later Saturday or Sunday when we upload the images and video to the website.

Happy St. Patricks Day

The day I can't join in and celebrate with a drink for obvious reasons, or go to a parade in St. Paul because we have one car, or wear green because I don't fit into anything in my closet anymore.

wow...apparently I have suppressed anger toward this particular time of year.

ANYWHO! Have a drink for me (those who are of legal age), see a St. Patty Parade, and wear all the green you can!

Love,
Apryl

Warm!

It's awesome here in Minnie-Snowtah! I can even open windows! Yay! Now as of right now dad and gary have to be wearing shorts. I mean it's practically tropical!

Jeff and I are currently looking for cars. The sex-scort finally broke down after 8 years or so but it's still sad. More sad just because we have to buy a new car right before the biggest expense of our lives is born. grr... We tried going yesterday but forgot that car dealerships were closed. But no one bothered us, so that's always nice! We're going to get a 4 door something. We don't know what though!

Hope everyone is doin good!

Funny joke

FBI needed to hire an assassin.  They were down to three candidates, two men and a woman.

The interviewers stood in a hallway and handed the first candidate a gun.  Pointing to a door, they said, "your wife is in there.  Go in and kill her."  The man looked at the gun and slowly shook his head.  "A job just isn't worth it," he said, and walked away.

They gave similar instructions to the second man.  He second man took the gun and walked into the room, but after several minutes came out sobbing.  (With stubbly knees too.)  "I just couldn't do it," he said tearfully.  "I just love her too much."

Finally the FBI interviewers handed the gun to the third candidate, the female.  "Your husband is in there.  Go in and kill him."  After a few minutes, loud crashing and bumping noises were heard from the room.  Finally the woman emerged, panting and drenched with sweat.

"The gun was loaded with blanks," she said, "so I had to beat him to death with the chair."

Just wanted everyone to know that Don and I are planning an autumn wedding in ARKANSAS. That is where he is from and the area is beautiful. It is in the North West corner of the state near Bella Vista and Rogers. So start saving your pennies!

I will post more info when I have some.

Where's Waldo?

Here I am. It just took me about 30 minutes to catch up on everything. Congrats Sarah! Congrats Jordan! Great bumper sticker Dave! Way to survive the shower Apryl! Good luck on your college entrance test results Brooke! Looking forward to seeing the NC Hostetler family come August! Where was Jeff's pink shirt? I've always thought pink was his favorite color! No wonder my dad is always trying to cheat at cards, he got it from that cheating grandma of ours! Cheating at a baby shower, whats next?

Now to me: Go back to my last blog entry about two months ago and read that. Now your caught up!

Oh ya, Apryl tell that husband of your its almost golf season so that pull over better be finding its way back my way.

Hope all is well with everyone!

I lived!

I made it through my first baby shower yesterday! It was on the in-law side (which still surprises me everyone made it out alive). Baby received a TON of awesome gifts! I also got comments like "are you sure your not having twins?!" and "you look like you could give birth any minute!"...nice huh? Apparently no one has filters anymore. I also was told I "BETTER HAVE A GIRL" after receiving all pink clothes, to which I replied "well if it isn't I at least picked out a boys name, Jayson!" My wonderful self proclaimed "Favorite" mother-in-law replied "like Jason on friday the 13th!"... ::sigh:: I like to thank god everyday for blessing me with her.

BUT! When I got home Jeff had the changing table and crib all set up! So I will have to take some pictures and put them up!!

Miss and Love everyone!

I like to think I'm famous in some way...

Today................I cut the hair of a man who has been on TV! Now, he's not a news anchorman or a weatherman or even a sports star.

for those of you not familiar with the show, The First 48, on A&E Thursdays at 9pm....it's a reality crime show about homicide detectives who have 48 hours to solve the case or their odds of catching the suspect is cut in half. They have recently come to MN, and today, detective Folkens came into work for a haircut. THEE DETECTIVE FOLKENS! AND I CUT HIS HAIR! And let me tell you I did a damn good job!

It wasn't until the end of the haircut that he told me he worked for Mpls Homicide and I asked him about the show and he told me he was on the show a couple of times. I asked him about a certain episode called "Candy Man" and he was the detective on that case. Infact he went to work at 3:30 this morning to fill out paper work for that case!! Oh my god! Anyway, I asked him about the case. On the show a homeless man (go figure) was found dead and it was determined it was another homeless man (again...) who killed him. SO! They bring in the homeless man who killed "Candyman" and he had changed clothes in the mean time. The man leans back and puts his feet on the table and casually talks to the detectives. On his shoes...BLOOD! Moron! Detective Folkens said they always catch the "not so smart criminals".

Here is a link to his profile! Check out the show if you haven't seen it! It's ADDICTING.

Now anyone who wants my autograph...just let me know! I mean, I'm practically famous now!

::sigh:: I am such a loser.

Hey everyone! It's been a little bit since I have updated.

Everything is cool around here, had my birthday a couple weeks ago, nice and mellow. Jeff and I are still working on the nursery. I will try to take pictures, soon! And Jeff is back at work!

I am keeping my gestational diabetes in check, and i am already having false labor pains. Yay.

Valentine's was awesome! I received a wonderful card, some chocolates, and flowers at work! We stayed home and made dinner and watched a movie, and yesterday went to Ichiban with some friends! It was a pretty cool weekend!

Dad is in Chicago workin and is coming home just before my shower! We are all working hard to keep the house clean for the shower...if I'm not mistaken there are going to be a LOT of people at the house. I'm stressin!!

that's about it!

hope everyone is doin well!
